Source of raw materials
The basic raw material of acetate fiber tow is natural cellulose, which mainly comes from plant raw materials such as cotton linters and wood pulp. These raw materials undergo a series of refining treatments to remove impurities to obtain high-purity cellulose, which is then esterified with cellulose by acetic anhydride to prepare cellulose acetate.
Common raw materials include:
Cotton linters: short fiber length, suitable for use as a cellulose source.
Wood pulp: mainly uses coniferous or broad-leaved tree pulp, with high purity.
Acetic anhydride: as the core reagent of esterification reaction.
Solvent system: acetic acid, ethyl acetate, etc. are commonly used as solvents for esterification reaction and solution spinning
Production process
Esterification: Purified cellulose is esterified with acetic anhydride in the presence of a catalyst to produce cellulose acetate.
Ripening: The acetification reaction product is aging treated by controlling the time and temperature to make the cellulose acetate reach the ideal degree of polymerization.
Hydrolysis and precipitation
Cellulose acetate is partially hydrolyzed by controlling pH value and reaction time to adjust its solubility and viscosity
Dissolution and filtration
Cellulose triacetate is dissolved in a suitable solvent to form a spinning solution of uniform viscosity, which is then filtered to remove impurities.
Solution spinning: Through the dry-wet spinning process, the solution is ejected through the spinneret to form a tow.
Bundling and drying
Gather, compact, dry, cut and pack the tows to form standard acetate tow products
