
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a nonionic cellulose ether made from natural cellulose through alkalization and etherification reactions. The product is a white to off-white powder with excellent thickening, water retention, film-forming and bonding properties. It disperses in cold water and dissolves in hot water, and the solution is transparent.

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a semi-synthetic high molecular polymer obtained by etherification modification of natural cellulose. Its molecular structure contains both hydroxypropoxy and methoxy functional groups. This unique structure makes it both water-soluble and thermally stable.

• Particle characteristics: 80-120 mesh (180-125μm) screening rate ≥95%
• Bulk density: 0.35-0.45g/cm³ (directly affects packaging and transportation costs)
• True density: 1.39g/cm³ (measured at 25℃)
Solution properties
Special two-stage properties in terms of solubility:
Cold water dispersion stage: Powder rapidly absorbs water and swells
Hot water dissolution stage: Transparent solution is formed above 60°C
Typical solution properties include:
1% solution viscosity range: 5-200,000mPa·s (20°C)
pH stability: Stable in the range of 3-11
Surface tension: 45-55mN/m (1% solution)
