Methyl cellulose, also known as cellulose gum, is a product in which some or all of the hydrogen on the hydroxyl groups in cellulose are replaced by carboxymethyl groups. Its sodium salt (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) is often used. Carboxymethyl cellulose is a commonly used food additive, and its sodium salt is often used as a thickener and paste.
Carboxymethyl cellulose is known as industrial MSG. It is used in large quantities in industrial production and brings great value to various production fields. Carboxymethyl cellulose is a white or slightly yellow powder, granular or fibrous solid. It is non-toxic and belongs to a macromolecular chemical substance. It is easily soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents, and can absorb water and swell. When swelled in water, it can form a transparent viscous glue. The viscosity will decrease with the increase of temperature. Due to its special properties, it has many special requirements in storage and transportation. The pH value of the aqueous suspension is 6.5-8.5.

Used in oil and gas drilling, well digging and other projects;
Used in textile and printing and dyeing industries. The textile industry uses CMC as a sizing agent for sizing light yarns of strong materials such as cotton, silk, wool, chemical fibers, and blended fabrics;

Packing
Handle in a well-ventilated area. The fine particles and powder should be regarded as an inert, nuisance dust with a threshold limit value of 10mg/m- for total dust and of 3mg/m- for the respirable portion. Avoid static build-up when emptying big bags. Earth all equipment and attach a grounding cable to the bag grounding connection.
Product should be stored, under cover, in a clean wet ventilated area. Maintain a clean area by removing dust. Keep away from heat, sparks and other sources of ignition. Store in a dry area.
